Overeem Port Cask Matured Single Malt

The Port cask is, as with the other whiskies, matured in a 100-liter cask for 5 years, in which time it is closely monitored. Each bottle is numbered with the bottle number and the cask ID, (this tasting is from bottle 029 of 164). In 2012, the Overeem Port Cask received the highest scoring from the malt whisky society of Australia, and was awarded overall winner of the Australian section at the World of Whisky festival in Sydney, with their Sherry cask being the runner-up.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
"Rich on the nose with an initial hint of dark plums and cherries, it quickly turns to sweeter, richer things: fruity chocolate, orange-soaked crème brûlée, and sultanas soaked in rum pushing through at the end. The taste is sweet and delicately spiced with a creamy texture. The soft fruits come through again, joined by Christmas cake and pear-drops, and the malt characters sweeten towards the end. The finish is long and viciously warm with subtle vanilla-malts and wonderful fruit tones rising through the mouth. "
