Père Magloire Calvados Fine
Calvados
Père Magloire // Calvados, France
The Pere Magloire moniker has been a household name in Normandy since the early the 1800s. This included a stint of ownership by Champagne's Veuve Clicquot -- so, exposure to markets and access to orchards have never been an issue.
This young bottling is distilled on continuous stills as opposed to pot stills therefore creating a lighter spirit. The freshness is emphasized by only using very old, large barrels.

Tasting Notes
"This is a light take on Calvados with a focus on fruit. There's not a lot of viscosity or weight to make a proper digestive, but this could make a very nice sidecar. The aromatics tend more toward Golden Delicious or other yellow-skinned apple varieties. There's a bit more alcohol and saccharin on the finish than you may like, hence the recommendation on using it for mixing rather than sipping."
