Pikesville Straight Rye

Herbal, slightly sweet nose. Not much ethanol, but a boozy presence for sure. Palate isn’t bready like other ryes, but easygoing, mildly sweet and sour like a cherry. Finishes long in the mouth, with nice, earthy tones before hugging the chest.

Burnt sugar, rich vanilla cake frosting, ginger spice, creamy cereal grains, full and hearty like a loaf of traditional rye bread, yellow cake, tangerine jam, lemon zest, chinese cinnamon. Intensely aromatic but not overwhelmingly so. Leather and the fruity character of raw cacao linger. Excellent proof. One of the best ryes on the market, has been pretty consistent in flavor profile and quality from year to year. Would recommend Russell's SiB rye, Knob Creek rye CS.

Taste like a glorified Jack Daniels. Wasn’t really feeling this one. I liked some of the spicy notes it had to it. To be fair I had it neat and then in an old fashioned. I usually prefer my whiskey neat, even Rye. To sum up, there are definitely better rye whiskey out there.

Minty, sweet, smooth

Spice, creamy, Great on the rocks

Very spicy. Strong mint, with a bit of eucalyptus. Can smell the malt and musty leather but it’s overpowered by the rye spices on the palate. This is an enjoyable rye but I think I prefer those that meander more towards the cinnamon side.
