Pikesville Straight Rye

This just came in third to Willett 4 yr Small Batch Rye and Wild Turkey Rare Breed Rye in a blind tasting that also included Russell's Reserve SiB Rye. The tasting represented my favorite ryes to date. It was an absolutely delicious pour and I would gladly have a bottle on my shelf. Looking forward to trying against Rittenhouse in a blind showdown.

I don't see this often in our area, so I was surprised when it showed up on the shelf of a local grocery store. Got around to trying it at a rye tasting event last winter, and it didn't disappoint. Excellent nose and mouthfeel, with a bit of a cinnamon burn to finish things up. Great to sip or mix in a cocktail.

Classic rye nose with caramel, grain, nuts, sawdust and ethanol. Palate doesn’t hold any surprises, a tough but smooth rye that delivers what you’d expect without a lot of nuance but with plenty of class. Would make a good comp for Knob Creek or Wheel Horse at a similar proof.
