Good legs, oily in appearance
N: caramel, oak, black licorice
Mouth: oak and rye forward with a full body. Not too punchy for the proof-but the warmth sticks with you.
Overall: I’m not a huge rye guy, but this one gets it right.
Classic rye nose with sweetness of the high % of corn on the pallet. I’m not a rye guy, but this is not bad at all—and by that I mean “poor me another dram!”
Leather and tobacco on the nose with brown sugar. Corn and oak sweetness and a faint whiff of mint on the nose as well. A nice punch of oak and and rye spice on the front of the palate coupled with a wonderful velvety texture. Brown sugar and a touch of maple syrup as well on the palate. This definitely one of my favorite Heaven Hill products.
