Tasting Notes
"The copper-colored rum bears a mildly astringent nose that carries caramel, toffee, and orange marmalade aromas from the glass. The rum enters with more bite than the nose suggested, yielding a host of spices including cinnamon, red pepper, white pepper, and allspice. Just past the spice comes a hefty dose of woody tannins and rancio notes suggestive of the fortified wine casks. Following this is a smacking of phenols represented by dry seaweed. Once attuned to the spirit, the palate can pick up the sweeter constituents found on nosing including caramel, toffee, and orange marmalade. The finish is impossibly long and dry despite the perceived sweetness coming across the palate last. The tannins completely coat the mouth and the spices continue to excite as the flavors fade between sips. A delight."
