Port Askaig 8 Year

Nose: floral, peaty, strong Palate: peat, brine Finish: thin, more peat The nose is incredible. Taste is basically pure peat and smoke with little else in the way. I’m a peathead and appreciate the strong nose and strength of the peat, but those looking for complexity may be disappointed.

Surprisingly translucent color. Charcoal, brine, and citrus on the nose. A very spicy, peaty palate - overwhelmingly so in some senses. The peppery kick persists in the aftertaste too. It’s not the subtlest scotch, but I’m a sucker for peat, so I’m having fun

Easily the clearest scotch I’ve ever had. Tons of woodsmoke but doesn’t overpower the salted caramel and citrus notes. Finish is easy and quick.
