The nose is a wonderful burst of floral rye and charred oak, with a great balance of vanilla, dark chocolate, some molasses sweetness, ripe fruit and just a bit of earthiness. This is absolutely wonderful, virtually no bite which is pretty incredible considering it is over 100 proof. It immediately gets you excited to take a sip. The pallet is a wonderful Middle ground between rich and dry, and has an incredible chew. The mouth is filled full of floral and fruity rye spice, charred oak, vanilla along with the rest of the minor notes from the nodes swirling around in the background. The mouth is immediately coated with flavor in the most dessert-like way, making this dangerously exciting to drink. With virtually no burn at all, the finish is long and never ending with the most amazing swirl of flavors cascading around the mouth. Everything is there in perfect harmony, making this quite the experience. This is one of the most perfect examples of rye that you can find, and really reminds me of styles of rye from times long ago. I will be incredibly sad once this bottle was empty, as a limited release I will probably never see another bottle. Should I save some? But then again it would be a shame to not enjoy this to the very last drop.
