Red Spot 15 Year Single Pot Still

Restaurant pour. The nose has me thinking this is really good, but I've also been fooled by Irish whiskies with good noses that don't deliver on the palate. I'm getting tropical fruit, tree nuts, vanilla, sweet oak. The palate actually delivers like few Irish whiskies do. Much the same from the nose. Full-flavored. I wish I could side-by-side with Gold Spot, as it seems to be in the same realm. I'm going 4.5, but will hope to come across a bottle to do a proper comparison. Also still need to find the Blue.

Aroma is exquisite and pungent for the proof with candied nuts, white grape, butter, green apple, fig, malt, leather, and fresh, soft wood. Ethanol nearly non-existent. On the palate, the sherry cask makes its presence known with a variety of fruits (apple, pear, grape), along with powdered sugar, cola, marzipan, butterscotch, and hazelnut. Rich, but delicate at the same time. Oh man, the finish takes this to another level; fruits turn a little darker with plum, date, and fig, meeting a slightly tannic oak which provides contrast. Mouthfeel is soft and velvety and very complimentary. A truly first class Irish whiskey. I paid $139 for this, which I understand is a steal compared to the secondary market, but I feel this is an appropriate price point; as the quality is certainly there. Would absolutely rebuy at anywhere near retail.

Lots of flavours here, every nose, every palate, every finish another note to add to the symphony of flavours in each sip. Wood/oak, cocoa, dried berries on the nose. More wood and liquorice sweetness on the palette with some spice but not a rye burn of spice, more like brisket. On the finish some pepper, some leather, some dried fruit, some sandlewood, some that’s dang tasty. Such a worthy dram after Yellow Spot.

Biscuit, bready, appreciated the waves of flavor including cherry at the end

Smooth nose with apple and plum notes. While some fruit on the nose, it is not an overpowering sweet or fruity nose. Mouth feel is nice with a distinct oak pop settling into more cherry finish. Very smooth - I expected it to be 80 proof and was surprised it was 92. I prefer neat, and would not recommend watering this down. Very nice sipper as it is.
