Nose is strong. Dried fruit: figs, cherries and apples. There’s an underlying spice mixed in with the oak. The first sip is honey, fruits, and an initially unpleasant spice. This is like the Redbreast 12 expression amplified in all the best and worst ways. The fruit is fruitier. The spice is spicier. The oak is woodier. It is still a pleasant dram, but too expressive and overpowering on the palette. Stick with the 12. It’s cheaper and better.
Nose - red berries and maple syrup, rich dark fruits, brown sugar, apple and cinnamon, soft vanilla
Palette - oily but soft, sweet creamy vanilla and ripe berries, some bright apple and a touch of spice
Finish - sweet rich and long lasting, a bit of spice on the tip of your tongue, medium burn
Dark fruits, cereal and classic single pot still shortbread biscuit on the nose. Rhubarb. An intense spicy arrival. Sweetness and wood trail into a long vanilla and honey finish. Doesn’t carry it’s 46% proof lightly.
