I think this is a fitting end to my whisky collection which once my final remaining bottle gets gifted to a mate makes this my very last bottle kill dram and dram full stop that i have and will no doubt be tasting for a while.
Anyhow onto the dram itself. Damn this is good stuff. The bottle only lasted a couple of months and unusually i only gave away a couple of drams. Lovely meadish, honey caramel spice thing going on here. It was consumed often in the same sessions as Springbank 18 and Old version Glendronach 15, '59 McCallum and '71 Mortlach (all sadly and simultaneously RIP in the last couple of weeks replaced promptly by my new worst friend gastritis who always comes to stay when I overdo it!) so it had tough competition.
For the $140USD I paid I'd think this is decent value and held up well under the stiff competition. I'd say although I rated 4.5 it's more 4.25 to 4.5. It's just not in the SB 18 4.5 - 4.75 league. Anyhow a '66 kopke port and 3 decent wine bottles Margaret River, Barossa and Gimlett Gravels are my sole remaining drinks. Come NY eve 2021 they will be consumed with friends and my esophagus and stomach will cheer as they enter 2021 with a owner whose drinks cabinet is bare and as they get a well earned break :-). I look fwd to living vicariously through other fine reviewers and reviews on this platform for an undetermined period of time. Slainte!
