Redwood Empire Cask Strength Lost Monarch (2023 Release)

The nose is a bit muted, apple, rye, toasted caramel, musty barrel, corn. Relatively smooth on the palate but quite spicy, with lots of rye, apple, cinnamon, barrel char, mint and other herbs, pepper, burnt caramel. Spicy finish, charred and lightly fruity, rye, a hint of black cherry at the back.

The nose is cinnamon, wisps of biscuit dough, and just a touch of dankness. On the palate, though, everything is bright, creamy, and spicy, with a lovely vanilla note that carries through and a very nice mouthfeel to boot. Imagine a highly alcoholic spice cake with cream cheese frosting that’s been liquified and you’re in the ball park.
