Rhine Hall Cherry Brandy
Rhine Hall // Illinois, USA
Rhine Hall distills fresh fruit eau-de-vie in their distillery in Chicago, Illinois. Their cherry brandy is produced in the summer from a mash of de-pitted Michigan cherries, with roughly 15 pounds of plums needed to produce each 750ml bottle. Availability is limited.
Eau-de-VieMost often referring to clear, unaged brandy distilled from wine from any type of fruit. Some styles are macerated with skins after distillation which provide color.
"Fresh cherries are synonymous with Michigan summers, so Rhine Hall is wise to take advantage of their neighboring state's bounty to make a kirchwasser. A rich, red cherry aroma comes off the spirit, and the palate has loads of fruit, a hint of marzipan, and a slight medicinal note. It's an enjoyable spirit that puts Michigan cherries to great use."
