Fumée Volcanique (volcanic smoke) is one of three expressions for the brand's Atelier Range, each one highlighting the terroir of Rhum J.M through cask manipulation utilizing their on-site cooperage. Crafted by Master Blender Karine Lassalle, Fumée Volcanique is a rhum agricole which was aged for 12-14 months in bourbon barrels with extreme char treatment.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is a mix of sweet summer herbs (basil, mint) mixed with tart tropical fruits that accompany a rich, savory aroma akin to brown butter. The palate goes more tootie-fruity with juicy, tangy flavors of cooked pineapple, mango, apricot, and yellow peach mixed with fresh bay leaf and toasted sesame. Though it's quite fruity, the finish only has a light to medium sweetness, with a spicy finish and hint of earthy smoke that further dries out the intensity of the fruit flavors. "
