Rhum Agricole Vieux
Rhum J.M. // Martinique
From the French Caribbean island of Martinique, this rhum agricole was distilled from freshly pressed sugarcane juice from Rhum J.M.'s own fields in July of 2001. It was then aged in 200 liter barrels before being bottled in October 2011.
Rhum Agricole VieuxRhum distilled from fresh sugarcane juice that has been aged in oak in barrels not to exceed 650 liters. In Martinique, aging requirements are at least 3 years for a VO designation, 4 years for VSOP, 6 for XO, and at least 6 for vintage rhums. Hors d'age is aged between 8-12 years.
"Roasted walnuts, spice cake, cocoa and mint appear along with vanilla and oak on the nose. The initial entry of this rhum brings spice notes, brown sugar and oak, while sugarcane, tarragon and dark chocolate appear later. The finish brings a bit of oak, roasted coffee bean, walnut and cacao nib at the end."
