Richland Single Estate Old Georgia Rum
Aged Rum
Richland Rum // Georgia, USA
Erik Vonk first began growing sugarcane on his Richland, Georgia plantation in 1999. Fascinated with creating a handcrafted rum using homegrown sugarcane, Vonk established the Richland Distilling Company and began producing rum made from his plantation's sugarcane.
This rum differs from other rums in that it is distilled from sugar cane syrup instead of molasses or sugar cane juice. It is then aged from 4-5 years in virgin toasted and charred American oak barrels before being bottled at 43% ABV.

Tasting Notes
"The aroma of the rum leads with notes of buttery caramel, fruity-berry notes quickly followed by new oak. Toffee and just a hint of butterscotch round out the nose. The flavors of the rum begin with an herbaceous sweet vanilla entry which is balanced by the berry note from the aroma. Raw oak, almond, allspice, and honey notes are also present. Minerals and vegetal raw sugar comes into play delivering a funky caramel sweet finish."
