Reviewed May 31, 2025The nose starts with an immediate burst of a cinnamon and oak, followed by distinct notes of floral rye, with ripe fruit and molasses following. It is very full-bodied thanks to its age, but also immediately shows what high proof it is. The palate is somewhat dry and sends cinnamon and oak swirling through all corners of the mouth. Rye spice cascades over the tongue, lighting your mouth up with heat. Some time to breathe opens up some slightly creamier notes of vanilla, however, rise by stays dominant. It is big and full, very much benefiting from being 10 years old. It is a simple yet impactful and memorable rye. The finish is long and spicy yet with a subtle smoothness to it. The flavor of the rye gives you a full experience from earthy to floral, making this quiet memorable. It is indeed stunning.
