This is my favorite rum. On the nose one can sense coffee, sugar cane and tobacco among other elements of the Peruvian foothills. The first sip is a world of complexity with sugar cane and molasses being a compliment to roasted coffee and fine tobacco. The finish is exceptionally smooth and leaves one longing for their next sip.
Sweet, with light burn in the middle, bit of banana taste (over ripe banana). On the other side of my taste (as whiskey enthusiast I like the complex taste).
Enjoying at Aranwa Resort in the Saced Valley. Okay and not nearly as good as the XO last night. Slightly less sweet, vanilla, dried fruits and sherry cask finish stand out. Recommend saving your money for the Ron Cartavio XO 18yr. Will look for XO at duty free on way home.
