This Gran Reserva Rum is made at El Salvador's first ever rum distillery, Licorera Cihuatán, which sprouted from the nearby Ingenio La Cabaña sugar mill. This is also where its molasses is sourced, showcasing the local sugarcane. Rums are aged up to 8 years in ex-bourbon casks solera-style and selected by Master Blender Luis R. Alvarez.
Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".
"Rich toffee and espresso aromas waft from the glass mingling with a floral scent. The palate has a bright caramel sweetness mixed with honey, cashews, sweet spices and a touch of smoke. The finish holds a surprising spearmint freshness that mixes with the lingering sweetness. There's not much to it, but it's highly sippable in its simplicity. "
