Tiburón // Belize
Tiburón is produced in a family-run distillery on the island of Belize. The molasses-based spirit is made in a column still and blended from rums aged a minimum of 4 years individually in ex-bourbon barrels. The selected rums are then blended and given a second maturation to marry before bottling.
Gold RumRum that is often aged, but can also just have caramel-coloring added to provide color. No specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for aging for most countries with a few exceptions.
"The first taste is reminiscent of a Werther's hard candy, all butterscotch, caramel and vanilla. Bittersweet chocolate and some smoke add some texture. There's not much on the herbal front, though the finish is a nice balance of sweet and earthy. "
