Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum

Nose: Dried fruit (apricot, peach, nectarine, prunes), baked red apples and some pears with cinnamon, bready yeasty notes, dark roasted coffee beans, mocha, ex-bourbon woodiness, woody coffee notes, chickory root, slight wintergreen mint, old caramel, baking spice (cloves and cardamom), slight vanilla and candied orange peel, toasted molasses, minty butterscotch Palate: Spicy cinnamon and paprika, juicy red apples, treacle and light syrup, spearmint, vanilla bean, fresh caramel, slight rye spice, mixed black and white pepper, mixed citrus peels (orange and lemon), slight old oak spice, light hardened icing sugar Finish: Cinnamon covered red apples and slightly spicy oak, slight vanilla, old treacle and molasses, Anjou pears, nutmeg, mixed candied fruits (papaya, orange, lemon, ect)

Sweet, but not syrupy. Subtle and complex. Not that long of a finish. The bourbon barrel aging shows, but it's not nearly as pronounced as Gosling Family Reserve, which makes me think they aren't all first-use barrels. Much darker than Appleton, Plantation XO, or Zacapa 23. Where this shines is in the value. You cannot find better.

Fruity like plums & figs with a good sweet like liquorice. Light citrus like oranges but fantastic with a smooth finish. Not bad for a everyday drinker great for cocktails I imagine & punches. Would come back to over other rums like captain & Bacardi.
