This limited-edition release from Wild Turkey's Russell's Reserve lineup was originally intended to serve as an homage paid to Jimmy Russell, by son Eddie, for his 45th anniversary and presumptive retirement. The retirement never happened, but the whiskey got stashed nonetheless. With only 23 barrels in the batch, 2,070 bottles resulted, offered at 102.2 proof.

Tasting Notes

"The nose is sweet and enticing, with molasses and char, syrupy candied fruits, brown sugar and cinnamon pancakes, with more baking spices including cloves and nutmeg. The high-proof is felt more on the palate which is drier and has notes of rye spice, oak, cedar and pinewood. There's a background sweetness with underlying vanilla, caramel, and maple syrup. The finish is quite lengthy and warming, offering oak, rye spice, black pepper, and a final touch of brown sugar. Toss in an ice cube to tame the spicy side of the palate."
