Shot Tower American Dry Gin
Shot Tower // Maryland, USA
Shot Tower American Dry Gin is a corn-based gin made with botanicals such as juniper, coriander, curaçao orange peels, jasmine flower, green tea, angelica root, and cassia. It is bottled at 100 proof. The gin is named after Baltimore's Phoenix Shot Tower where shot ammunition was produced by dropping molten lead from the top of the tower and into a vat of cold water at the bottom.
Modern GinAlso has been referred to as "Contemporary", "New Western", "New Wave", and "New American". This style is not legally defined. In general, this category of gin, while it does contain juniper, places less of an emphasis on this botanical. Other botanicals not classically used in London Dry gins are often utilized and often highlight botanicals grown in the region the gin is produced. Most produced as either London Dry or Distilled Gins.
"Very citrusy nose, mostly lime peel and leaf leading to a prominent juniper-coriander classic gin aroma. On the palate, the three combine with a bit of tannic bite from the botanical mix. Medium-bodied with a juicy lime finish. "
