Reviewed July 8, 2021 (edited September 16, 2021)Assessed in a Glencairn spirits nosing glass. Aroma - Neat - Polished mahogany and old sophisticated oak, stewed plums, brown sugar and perhaps a touch of old leather. Really nice. Adding a splash of water . . . Not a ton of development. Taste - Neat - Buttery arrival, complex wood, vegetable tanned leather and cherry. Quite hot to be expected and in need of dilution. Adding a splash of water . . . The aforementioned notes remain the same but with the burn toned down enough to taste th better. The cherry may be developing into more of an almond paste / marzipan territory. Final thoughts - Leaps and bounds better from their Straight bourbon offering. Not Overly complex, but quite powerful in the tastes and smells that’s it fulfills. -
