Reviewed October 24, 2023 (edited April 11, 2024)I purchased this because I dig St George on the whole, have an affinity for NOLA coffee, and wanted to compare it to my coffee liqueur mainstay, Mr. Black. The thing is, they are not similar at all. Whereas Mr. Black is a sweet, concentrated cold brew coffee liqueur, St. George NOLA more or less evokes the flavor of a cup of chicory coffee, i.e. bitter, earthy, and complex, but not concentrated. St. George NOLA works well on the rocks or as an espresso martini, but gets lost as a cocktail modifier, because it is not very concentrated. Even in a White Russian, it doesn't come through very well. I personally like the nuanced flavor, but would still recommend Mr. Black to most people. -
