caramel taffy sweetness on the nose. notes of Korean melon popcicle. hot. lots of alcohol here. deep vanilla and brown sugar on the first sip. finish is spicy. you can taste the booze. complex, but the nearly 130 proof is a touch higher than I like. enjoyed neat in a glencairn. maybe a splash of water next time to bring down the proof and open it up.

Man I thought I loved Booker's for a high proof bourbon. Wow this really rubs me the right way though. Booker's I find to be more nutty (very peanut heavy), and lots more wood. Stagg Jr by comparison I find to have darker almost candy or fruit notes and much sweeter. Way closer to my personal preference. All hail the new king!
It needs a cube or two of ice but opens up beautifully after a couple minutes on the rocks. Long finish and flavorful mouthful. I’ve tried four different bottling and enjoyed them all.
Definitely a favorite of the higher proofs. Lots of complexity on the nose. Give it 5 mins and you will find something else. Spice and cinnamon on the palate. Some heat for sure. Long finish that kind of makes the whole deal well worth the journey.
