Still Austin The Musician Straight Bourbon

The Musician is the product of over seven years of focus on making the highest quality. We could not be more proud of her - and all she represents. She is an expression of Austin, of the people of Texas, who endlessly inspire me. Some of the notes I love are a sugar coated orange jelly candy nose, as well as s'mores with toasted coconut. On the palate the rye makes its appearance like my mom's breakfast cinnamon french toast. The finish is remarkably long and warm with delicious spice.

The "musician" edition of Still Austin straight bourbon is fantastic. This is the ONLY reasonably priced Texas whiskey that I have enjoyed. Great body, great finish, and great price. Also had the pleasure to taste their cask strength "Monster Mash" distillers edition which was a homerun as well. Still Austin seems to have found their groove.

Really enjoyable. The first release from Still that hasn’t tasted too alcoholy (as in, rubbing). Great for cocktails and fine on the rocks. A little sweet and overall a fine early bourbon.

Nose: Young, still has the fresh grain smell but mellowed by the oak with a hint of vanilla and toasted coconut. The high rye content comes through with a little of what I call the ”dill pickle” smell of younger ryes. Palate: Pretty well balanced for being no older than two year and with the high rye content. Notes of caramel and vanilla battle with the black pepper spice. Not in a harsh way by any means. Finished: The caramel transforms more into a saltes caramel treat with some hints of a toffee like sweetness competing the the lingering zestiness of the black pepper. All in all not a bad whiskey at all and it gives me hope for the distillery in the years to come!
