Branca // Italy
When Stravecchio Branca Brandy was first introduced in 1888, it was the second product launched by Fratelli Branca after Fernet Branca. The Italian brandy is made from trebbiano grapes and is initially aged for 4-5 years. Then the brandy is transferred into one of the largest single casks in all of Europe for 2-3 months.
Made from Slovenian oak, the "botte madre" or "oak mother barrel," is kept a third full at all times. Stravecchio, pronounced stra-vech-key-o, means "extra old." Released in the US for the first time as of November 2019.

Tasting Notes
"Branca's Stravecchio brandy is simple in structure but undeniably charming. It's a bright, silky spirit that finds its hook in a myriad of confectionary flavors. Lemon curd, creme brûlée, and vanilla rest gently inside the glass. The palate is like a spoonful of honey with a smooth sweetness from front to back. Well suited as a dessert pairing. "
