Straw Boys Poitín Irish Moonshine
Poitín
Straw Boys // Ireland
In western Ireland Straw Boys were wedding crashers. They’d obscure their faces with conical straw hats, break into the reception, dance with the bride, have a drink, and then leave.
This was considered good luck for the wedding couple. This unaged poitín is made entirely from malted barley and bottled at 45% ABV.

PoitínPoitín or poteen is a traditional Irish spirit usually made in a small pot still. It is often made from barley, corn, potatoes or sugar beets. It isn't usually aged, but it can be for up to 10 weeks and it can also be flavored. Its name comes from the Irish word "pota" which means pot.

Tasting Notes
"This has a lot of good stuffing. A nice medley of aromas and flavors well known in Irish whiskey but all in their infancy. Aromas of vanilla bean, underripe plantains, and tart green apples. The palate is similar but because it is fresh distillate all the flavors seem artificial or chemical. The finish shows sulphur along with toasted grain and marshmallow."
