My impression is... It's not as good people led on. Strangely I've always heard people claim Suntory Toki is some really good stuff, but I honestly don't feel it. It's really weak. Flavors are not as full (felt really thin and diluted), and the flavors drop suddenly into a sterilizing alcohol flavor (not ethanol, but that alcohol scent from hospitals).
I don't know... I'm new here. Maybe Toki is a bottom shelf type, or meant as a mixer? Other Japanese whiskys in the $70-$100 range are marvelous, but I'd rather spend that much elsewhere (like Single Barrel, Barrel Proof bourbons, single malts, rye, etc.).
