Tequila El Mayor Blanco
Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
El Mayor's blanco is produced from 100 % Blue Weber agave harvested in the Highlands of Jalisco. It's bottled at distillery, NOM 1143, in Puerto Altata, Guadalajara, in an attention-getting "swoosh"-shaped bottle of which this was # 47 from batch 1478. As befits its lack of barrel aging, the color is clear.
Tequila BlancoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is typically unaged , clear, and bottled straight after distillation. Sometimes rested in stainless steel up to 60 days and can also be aged in wood for no more than 30 days.
"The nose is light but also somewhat hot, a quality that's enhanced by pepper but balanced by an agave sweetness. The heat remains on the palate where is gets some help from a fruity sweetness reminiscent of Poire Williams eau-de-vie, all of which is bolstered by additional, though not distinctive, spice. The finish is short (but not sweet) and peppery."
