The Macallan Edition No. 1 marks the beginning of a new annual limited-edition release. The concept with Edition No. 1 is co-creation, with both American and European oak casks being incorporated, showcasing the brand's mastery of wood. To accomplish the feat, Macallan's master whisky-maker, Bob Dalgarno, hand-selected and proportioned a total of eight different cask types, including different cask styles, sizes and origins. The release is NAS and bottled at 48% ABV.

Tasting Notes

"Twirling notes of sherry, nuts, marzipan, red fruits, citrus and vanilla custard get things started on a complex nose. A velvety mouthfeel awaits, with a rich, sherried side upfront leading to a drier, spicier profile, with cloves, nutmeg, pepper, oak, and orange peel. A long, hot finish offers more oak and marzipan in its wake, along with a distinctly bitter touch and an astringent effect in the cheeks."
