The Real McCoy 12 Year Rum
Aged Rum
The Real McCoy // Barbados
William McCoy was one of the original rum runners, illegally smuggling rum into the U.S. during Prohibition. Because he did not adulterate his spirits to increase his profit margin as did other bootleggers, “the real McCoy” became a term for authenticity.
In 2012, documentary filmmaker Bailey Pryor, having produced a film about McCoy, started The Real McCoy Spirits. All Real McCoy rums are sourced from the highly regarded Foursquare Distillery in Barbados, who also happened to supply William back in the day. A blend of pot and column-still rums. This particular expression is aged for twelve years with no sugar or coloring added.

Tasting Notes
"In the bottle, this is rum is a bit darker than you’d expect for a twelve-year rum. The aroma is of oak, light fruit, and non-objectionable feints of nail polish remover, a result of wood aging and especially common in Barbados rum. The initial taste is sweet fruit, although it’s a dry rum with no sugar added. In the mid palate, vanilla and oak take shape. It finishes with a slight bit of pepper and tad more burn than you’d expect from an expertly aged twelve year rum."
