Reviewed August 10, 2024В общем виски достаточно неплох. Маслянистый, тягучий. Аромат простоват. Карамель, сухофрукты, меловость, чуть деревяшки. Зато отлично подходит к хорошей сигаре.Dolgoprudny -

Reviewed March 25, 2022Rating: 12/23 I only had a swig of this left, so I downed that to kill the bottle...and it was better than I remembered. There's still more alcohol than I'd expect at this age and proof, but it's less harsh than most grain whisky I've had. Sure, it's fairly flat, but there are no off notes. Turning the bottle around, I notice that it advertises "Supple and silky, with elegant, rich flavours of creamy vanilla, and buttery toffee, with a hint of cinnamon coconut and cocoa." Ignoring the train wreck of a sentence that the comma placement makes that, I'd say it's a pretty fair description. I definitely got vanilla, coconut, and spice before reading that. I see where they're getting buttery toffee, though there isn't much of it. Silky and elegant for sure. Cocoa? Not so much. I'd consider going up to a 14 now. I'd probably land on a 13, but with only one sip, I don't have enough confidence to change my rating. Eh... I just pulled down a couple of my other grains to compare and they both tasted substantially better than usual too. I don't deny that this can taste pretty good in the right circumstances, as I'm finding out now, but normally its nuance is absent and it isn't that enjoyable. My initial 12 was probably correct. As a side note, I just read that this is produced by Macduff. It wasn't reported by the most reputable source and I haven't heard of Macduff producing grain whisky before, but it's an oddly specific enough claim that I'm kind of prepared to believe it.51.5 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed March 24, 2022 (edited March 27, 2022)Vanilla, honey, caramel, a tiny bit of spice, on the sweeter side, short finish. This is very easy to drink. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. Thanks to @ContemplativeFox for the sample. -

Reviewed December 28, 2021 (edited March 24, 2022)Rating: 12/23 N: Fairly rich with a mellow sweetness, a little alcohol, some toastiness, and light nuttiness. P: A very flat profile. But it's sweet and smooth. It's almost a little malty in its sweetness, but not quite. There's the nectar quality. Occasionally some coconut comes in and out. It tastes about 12 years old by malt scotch standards, but I can see 15. There's a tad of spice - maybe ginger and clove, but I'm reaching to even detect that. It's really frustrating, but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what that main sweetness is. It's just the most generic scotch sweetness. Lightly toasty. Neither particularly fresh nor particularly tired barrels. I think I'm getting vanilla. I want to find something fruity in here, but I don't think it's actually there. Very balanced, but not even slightly complex. If all you care about is having smooth whisky, this is one for you. There's remarkably little happening here, but at the same time I find myself appreciating the maturity here. At 20 years, I expect a single grain to still be a bit harsh and young tasting. Although this does not taste super old and it certainly isn't complex, I like that clean profile it has that just nails the one flavor. It makes me think of Pure Scot Virgin Oak in how monotone but still nicely flavored it is. I think this is even a bit less complex than the Pure Scot though, somehow. It would be a good intro scotch for somebody getting to know the flavor profile. F: Clean. Just the palate lingering for a while. - Conclusion - This is super simple, but cleanly executed. It's so simple that it makes Pure Scot Virgin Oak seem complex in comparison. I'm leaning toward a 12 here.51.5 USD per Bottle -
