Reviewed July 28, 2020Rating: 1/23 The nose has crisp green apple, but more like the fruit than that sweet, sour, punchy green apple candy. The bitterness comes across as apple peel and works really nicely here. There's some earthiness with a little bit of mushroom on the nose that doesn't quite fit with the whole green apple thing, but it does have a natural scent that works well with the other smells. The palate is very tart with a lot more earthiness, sulfur, and umami than expected. It tastes frankly awful. After such an interesting nose that I praised for several good qualities, the palate tosses those out and becomes a gag-inducing mess. It has some earthy bitterness that reminds me sort of of green apple peel and it also has some tartness mixed with sweetness that gives off s bit of a similar vibe. The overall flavor though is disgusting. This is a bit worse than the raspberry veil, though the two are very close. This just doesn't have any nice core to fall back on. This is the most undrinkable liqueur I think I have ever encountered. Bottom marks all the way. No exaggeration. It's also super drying. In just the right cocktail, a dash of this might work. Otherwise, avoid it at all costs. It does remind me of green apples more on the finish, but it's a miserable experience overall. The nose smells more like green apple skins and seeds than actual green apple. Sort of like they're composting. Oh dear lord, what a terrible palate! It's so sour like the worst part of green apple with an oiliness from the seeds without any of the good qualities. It's so weird and gross. There's some random sweetness in here like somebody dissolved green apple jolly ranchers in here. There's some mushroom flavor in here too that does go with the apple seed flavor, but it also is gross and not suited to this alleged green apple drink. Ugh, the flavor is just so bad throughout. At least there's a full flavor with some clear element of green apple, but it starts weak and it just gets work. This might warrant a 2, but it's definitely in the 1 to 2 range.12.0 USD per Bottle
