Waterford Rathclogh Edition 1.1

Nose: caramel, apples, fresh rain, pepper, banana pudding, dusty books, lemon zest, Taste: melted caramel, pepper, citrus, chocolate covered banana, fruit filling, finishing with a waxy condensed milk. More: this whiskey is one of the most complex I've ever had (and I've had a LOT of whiskey) every time I go back I find something new. It is also one of the most oily whiskies with a finish that goes for days. I must say I was skeptical of it with a $100.00 price tag and lots of big talk coming from the distillery, but I am happy to report that what's in the bottle lives up to the hype.

Aroma is a tad waxy and gets a touch citrusy as it opens, bringing along some earthy grain and overripe fruit notes that remind me of closing time at a farmer’s market in the summer; Palate is a little more confusing and I’m not totally sure about what’s going on under the malt, toffee, citrus and sweet and nutty note – there is this odd over-roasted-touch-metallic note that isn’t good… but it’s not terrible either; Finish fades nicely to a warm nutty note and is the best part for sure.

Nice dessert wine and tropical feel to it. Nose: Vanilla, Lychees, Sultanas, Pears, Melons, Papayas, Mangoes, White Chocolate, Sourdough, Ginger, Bananas, Honey Palate: Vanilla, Honey, Caramel, White Chocolate, Peaches, Bananas, Coconut, Apricots, Cherries, Jolly Ranchers Green Apple, Pepper, Brioche, Cinnamon, Red Apples Finish: Vanilla, Pears, White Chocolate, Apricots, Cherries, Honey, Sultanas, Red Apples
