Western Reserve 14 Year Bourbon

Reviewed August 8, 2020 (edited October 5, 2021)Initial nose on opening is dusty corn. If Mike Trout put an old cob of corn on the end of a baseball bat and hit you in the face with it like he’s in Game 7 of the WS with bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th 3-2 count and they throw a 99mph fastball right in the middle of the strike zone, it’s like that. Thankfully after being opened for a while that settles out quite a bit. Taste - dusty corn, light barrel spice, vanilla, and not much else. The depth is lacking for a 14yr. Finish: very slight hug, decent but unremarkable, short. Overall I’d rather buy IW Harper 15 at $30-40 less and feel like I’m getting a much better bourbon at a much better price. -

Reviewed December 1, 2019 (edited September 3, 2020)High priced mediocrity in a glass. No distiller statement when purchased. Sourced from KY and Indiana...tastes like Dickel...buyers remorse.
