Westland Barley Series Maris Otter Single Cask #2560
Westland Distillery has made a commitment to demonstrating the possibilities in barley, and has now released a series of whiskeys that testify to that. Each of the expressions showcases a different type of malted barley, and the resulting flavors which ensue.
The three whiskeys in the series were all matured in ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill, for a period between 49 and 50 months and were distilled with Belgian Brewer's yeast. Cask #2560 was made with Maris Otter barley from Thomas Fawcett & Sons.

Tasting Notes
"Chestnut brown in the glass, the nose offers honeyed fruits such as pears and baked apples with cinnamon, as well as vanilla. The palate quickly takes a turn for the darker and richer, with a smorgasbord of chocolate—syrup, dark, cacao nibs—as well as peanut shells. A long finish is stocked with bitter dark chocolate and cocoa powder, with spicy oak, molasses, and maple. The clear star of the Barley Series."
