Westland Lucky Envelope Cask Exchange 4
American Single Malt
Westland // Washington, USA
Westland Lucky Envelope Cask Exchange is the fourth release in the brand’s Cask Exchange program. Westland sends used whiskey barrels to a brewery and they in turn use them to age their beer before sending them back to the distillery. Lucky Envelope Brewery based in the Ballard neighborhood in Seattle was selected for this bottling with its Imperial Stout seasoning the barrels. Additionally, those casks once held malbec wine in its life cycle.
The American single malt was a five-malt barley blend which ran through the still immediately after a peated spirit was run. Aged for 69 months, this is bottled at 102.6 proof. Sales limited to Washington State.

Tasting Notes
"The nose showcases caramel-drizzled fudge, along with brandied cherries and syrupy dates. The palate offers red fruits – ripe raspberries and juicy plums – as well as oatmeal, and zesty citrus peel and pith. Towards the back, find baker's chocolate and bitter coffee grounds, signaling the whiskey's stout lineage. The finish offers peat, hops, caramelized sugar, and tannic oak."
