Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye

Lots of spice for sure.

Very nice bold rye whiskey. Very smooth and light warmth at the end. Great neat drinking.

I was considering drinking it out of the sample bottle as due to our kitchen and dining area being torn apart I couldn't find a glass. I went rummaging through stored stuff and found one and away I went. It was definitely worth paying respect to the dram by serving it right, tasting straight and adding water and retrying. I wouldn't say i'm a huge fan of the profile these days preferring scotch style whisky but this is a rye done well. Nice spicey earthy notes, well balanced and handles water very well in fact even with liberal watering i couldn't really tell the difference. It seems to handle a wide abv range well.

The rye has a nice upfront bite to let you know your drinking a rye and a smooth vanilla finish to remind you it was $70. Would definitely drink again.
