RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is quite perfumed with fruit punch, citrus, warm spices, and brown sugar. Oak aromas are present on the nose, but there's a touch of Sharpie marker there as well along with a grassy, dried herbs note. The fruity aromas aren't strong on the palate, but the warm spices are still here especially the cardamom, anise and cinnamon as an accent. The tannins whisk away most of the sweetness in the whiskey leaving you with a bittersweet taste. Subsequent tastes have the fruity flavors dialed down on the nose. It's a whiskey that you'll feel compelled to keep trying as you search for a new flavor and it drinks more like a prepared cocktail. The Boss Hog expressions are bold and not for everyone — and come at quite a cost. But if you've got an adventurous spirit and the pocketbook to match, there's a lot to like here. "
