The Widow must have been French, with the toasty bread notes and the creme brûlée foundation. There are some distant fresh cherry notes discernible. It's smooth and easy to sip.
Edit:
I've now let it breathe for a while (30-45 minutes) and it's lost a lot of its charm somehow. The creamy brûlée has given way to more cherry, oak, and spice. More rye feeling than bourbon. Absolutely not worth the price paid. Not terrible, but wouldn't buy again.
