Sweet, chewy, brown sugar and oak smell, loved it! Palate was dry for me, think leather and oak, not as sweet as the nose lead me to believe it would be, but still good. Also, maybe a faint taste of dried almonds, although I’m always looking for nutty notes. Was also expecting a fuller, chewier mouthfeel like Bookers or EC Barrel Proof because of the nose, although these bad boys are 10+ point higher than Rare Breed. Ironically, first sip after adding 2 drops of water I got a bit fuller mouthfeel... weird, I know.
I feel like I’m being hard on it because of the high expectations I had, but in reality, this is a good bourbon I would always have in my bar.
New bottle, taken neat on a Glencairn glass.
