Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye

The price has increased from $55 us in November 2023 to $70 at Total Wine and most other liquor stores. I still think this is an excellent rye, but if the price goes up any further I will change my opinion. I think that this whiskey is perfectly blended and the high proof elevates the taste to perfection. It is smooth and delicious.

Nose- oak and vanilla. Palatte- spicy to start and then settles into cinnamon and vanilla. A sweet floral note to end. Finish- lingering spice and oaky vanilla. Overall- the high proof can hid a lot of this complex whiskey. Overall, the spiciness and mellow vanilla and oak give the whiskey a nice complexity. Can be put into a manhattan, but is best served neat with a small splash of water to get the flavors to pop.
