Wolfhound Irish Whiskey

St Patrick's Day month, so I have to experiment with different Irish whiskeys. So, I randomly grabbed this bottle. Semi sweet scent that begins with butter and a mixture of clove and fruit. I smell scents of apple, banana and soft peach. The sweetness carries into the taste with a mouthful of marmalade. Strong hit of alcohol that overpowers the smoke and light heat. I think it would be better if used as a mixer or if aged longer.

Aromas of vanilla. Some oak. Flavors go that direction first then the alcohol comes in hard. It lingers through the short finish and leaves an aftertaste slightly wooden and slightly plastic and still hints of the original vanilla and some apple notes as well.

Smooth, almost creamy; honey, vanilla, and wood on the nose; not terribly complex; pretty sharp finish

Gotta love the whiskey snobs, but don’t listen to them. This stuff is great. My favorite Irish. Has just enough kick but goes down easy as an Irish whiskey should. It’s good for sipping and Irish coffees. Plus, the coolest name of any whiskey I know.
