Woodford Reserve Baccarat Edition begins with standard Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon as its base. Master distiller Chris Morris sourced French oak ex-cognac XO barrels which were used to finish the maturation process. They spent 3 years in these cognac barrels before the bourbon was bottled at 90.

Tasting Notes
"The cognac comes through quite clearly on the nose with a fruity profile (grapes, plums, cooked pears) as the top note. Char smoke comes in next and these two dominant features do play nicely together. Meanwhile, the bourbon flavors do finally come through on the midpalate with some gentle barrel spices and sweet vanilla and caramel taste along with a little milk chocolate. And the cognac influence is still here too. The finish has a bittersweet quality and a solid length. Overall, a fruity and moderately sweet experience with enough complexity to enjoy on its own. Would recommend to sip rather than mix this one. And for you cigar smokers out there--smoke 'em if you've got 'em. "
