Nose: such a rich and full nose. Probably the richest I’ve smelled ever. Starburst comes to mind. So fruity and strong. Just based off the nose Id give a 5/5. Nose after a few sips shows a bunch of oak now.
Palate: lots of spice. Lots and lots of spice. Very woody as well. Palate isn’t as strong as I expected based off the nose. Second sip is not as spicy. So a bit more fruit shines through. Note that the first sip was my very first sip of whiskey tonight so obviously after my mouth was coated it wasn’t as potent.
Finish: incredibly long finish. The spice lingers on and on and on. Second sip, still a very long finish with good balance this time.
Overall: JAX (ATL, GA) store pick. Not sure of the age but it’s 114.2 proof. I guess it’s a wheated bourbon as well? Which is cool to know. I think it’s a solid bourbon with what seems like a lot of aging behind it, whether it’s from the Georgia heartwood or actually from aging. A gift from the brother-in-law for Christmas and a very solid present I think. Color is also beautiful btw. Would like to let it open up for a while before trying again.
