This one has a special place in my bar. It has the pricepoint of a starter, the abv of a finisher and a quality way above the price point.
I drink this when I want to keep on but my taste is too dulled for something pricy.
It's an intense whisky for sure.
Toffee and pepper, and maybe vanilla custard. It smells a bit dirty (like seaweed maybe), as is often the case with blended scotch.
If you tend to like your whisky soft and harmless this is not for you. This one is rough, but so good! The intensity of the toffee is hard to describe, very unique.
Score strongly influenced by price-quality ratio.

Good review. I suspect the ‘off notes’ you’re tasting are fusel oils possibly coming from the tails of one (or more) of the constituent spirits used in the blend. It also gives the whisky that oily mouthfeel. I’m quite enjoying this, especially after it’s sat in the glass for 20 minutes or so; a great value for money dram with and without water
