This one has a special place in my bar. It has the pricepoint of a starter, the abv of a finisher and a quality way above the price point. I drink this when I want to keep on but my taste is too dulled for something pricy. It's an intense whisky for sure. Toffee and pepper, and maybe vanilla custard. It smells a bit dirty (like seaweed maybe), as is often the case with blended scotch. If you tend to like your whisky soft and harmless this is not for you. This one is rough, but so good! The intensity of the toffee is hard to describe, very unique. Score strongly influenced by price-quality ratio.35.0 CAD per Bottle

Hands the down the best whisky I have ever tasted! I love bourbon cask scotch, and this is the absolute apotheosis of the genre. It is difficult to describe. Everything you would expect from such a scotch is there (citrus, vanilla, apple, malt, etc.), but it is just so profound. Words simply cannot satisfyingly express this experience.150.0 CAD per Bottle

In intense bourbon, with a rarely seen price-quality ratio. An absolute buy! Score strongly influenced by the ridiculously low price point. High quality, high abv, low price. What's not to like? Dark and intense bourbon, relatively dry and bitter. The charred virgin barrel has certainly a strong influence here. Red berries like raspberry, and charred oak. A bit dusty (I like that) like the Knob Creek. Good balance, but the intensity is really the highlight.32.0 CAD per Bottle

I'm absolutely blown away by this whisky! One of my favorites. The balance between faint peat, subtle sherry and a mineral and maritime aspect is just insane. I tend not to like the peat-sherry mix, but this is something else. It tastes like second fill sherry, it's clearly there but not overwhelming like it is usually. It's very dark, earthy, and so profound. Dark chocolate with a strong mineral aspect. Nutty maltiness as well. It's just wonderfull and totally underrated!92.0 CAD per Bottle

Tomatin Legacy
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 7, 2021 (edited February 22, 2022)Wow, what a scotch, and what a price-quality ratio. I just don't get why it is not ated higher. It is comparable to a bourbon cask scotch but warmer, and with a little twist. It reminds me of a hot croissant with butter and apple jelly. There is some kind of nuttiness too. Simply excellent!50.0 CAD per Bottle -
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited January 15, 2021)I love this whisky! I tasted 2 different batches in 2019 and 2020 and loved both. It is worth much more than what they ask for it. Being able to find the exact recipe with a code is a tremendous idea! This gem starts with a strong strong mineral aspect, like small rocks on the seaside. Follows a strong maltiness and the cask influence, I can even smell the wine casks. There are hints of red wine and red grapes. The bourbon cask influence is perceptible as well with some citrus peel. The abv makes it quite intense, which I love, but don't make it your first drink of the evening. The taste is very rich, the aforementionned mineral aspect comes back with brine, spices, nuts, malt and oak. This bottling made me a fan of Bruichladdich and I prefer it to my way more expensive Port Charlotte 10. You have to try it!68.0 CAD per Bottle -
This one is for peat and bourbon barreled scotch lovers. If you're one of those, you'll love this scotch! Intense peat and very sweet vanilla nose, unlike anything I know. The peat is herbal but not medicinal, with a bit of ash. Maybe a bit of citrus. Heavy ashes and intense vanilla taste, a bit of earthiness. Earthy aftertaste with some ashes. Quite peaty finale. The herbal aspect comes out too after a while. Strongly typed flavour profile, hit or miss depending on your taste. If you're a sherry-peat fan you may not like this.90.0 CAD per Bottle

Glen Grant 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited August 2, 2021)Floral nose with pears, vanilla and a hint of lemon. It smells fresh and delicious. After a while I get apple and watermelon candy. Round taste with a slight bitterness, like citrus peel. Warm honey, apples, and again that watermelon candy. Lemon peel and honey on the aftertaste, very satisfying length. All in all a classic bourbon barrel aged scotch at a very fair price point and a good abv. I found it weird and disappointing immediately after opening it, but after 1 week or so it got good.60.0 CAD per Bottle
