Nose: smoke, ocean air, followed by caramel and hints of lemon and other citrus. Everything is in balance and inviting, the smoke is always there but never overpowering.
Palate: Mix of oak and florals with touches of salt and iodine, all wrapped in peated smokiness. At the very tail end there hints of vanilla and cereal grains. Even at 100 proof, it's easy and smooth to drink.
Finish: Bright salt and pepper with touches of candy, all ending with just a touch more of the smoke.
Out of all whiskies I've had, the Port Charlotte line would be my go to. The peat is always present while allowing all the other flavors to be tasted and enjoyed. It's wonderfully balanced. I could drink it all the time. It doesn't hurt that Bruichladdich is doing things right by becoming a certified B Corporation and taking steps to have the entirety of the production process done on Islay, which is awesome.
